A cup of Herbal tea could be the best solution for everyday wellness.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away! It is a simple rhyme that has stuck with us from childhood in an attempt to keep us eating our fresh fruit and vegetables. A study has been conducted on the matter, and although not statistically relevant in keeping the doctor away, daily apples do manage to lower the need for prescription medicines.

So if a simple addition of one apple can really make the chance of a person needing prescription medicine decrease, what could the potential of consuming more than 30 scientifically effective herbs, spices and fruits be when infused into daily cups of herbal tea?

Can it really be as easy as a simple cup of tea for improved everyday wellness? I truly believe so. Let me share with you why.

What our bodies need in the morning

Firstly, we need to drink something. More often than not we are dehydrated in the morning and we don’t even know it. Many of us immediately reach for a sugary coffee in order to pick us up, but this further exasperates the issue by increasing blood flow through our kidneys and making them work harder.

Starting the day in the best possible way not only sets you up with more energy to tackle life; it can also boost immunity and improve your mood which can have a positive flow on effect for the entire day.

So, in the morning, by drinking water that is infused with elements that can further enhance energy in a natural and complementary way, you are not only breaking your fast in a healthy manner, but giving you that good morning shake up as well.

Healthy Morning Hydration

What our bodies need during the day

As you settle into your day, you might be interacting with other people, you could be problem solving or perhaps you’re trying to close a deal or finish an assignment. Regardless what you’re doing, you are constantly learning and in order to succeed, you need to always be on your best game.

By utilizing the neuro-protective and memory enhancing compounds that certain herbs such as gingko biloba, ginseng and dong quai possess, blood pressure can be regulated and a harmonized flow can occur throughout your body. This can provide the mental stamina boost needed to power you through the productive part of your day.

What our bodies need in the afternoon

After lunch, we can fall into a slump which sees the rest of the day drag by in a haze. Delicious coconut is known to provide a quick energy boost that doesn’t drag you down.

A mouthwatering combination of coconut, lime, cinnamon, ginger, black pepper and turmeric actually result in an immense overhaul for poor digestion and gut health as well as reducing our inflammatory responses.

Piperine, the active compound found in black pepper can help to improve the absorption of nutrients. Ginger is an age old remedy for poor digestion and works by stimulating processes in the body, such as saliva flow to aid digestion. Saliva is aided by lime to break down nutrients whilst cinnamon and turmeric have anti-inflammatory properties which support healthy digestion.

Afternoon Slump

What our bodies need before we sleep

So that we can sleep well and easy, it is important to take the time to relax. It is a good idea to spend time away from digital devices and to avoid eating and caffeinated products. There are a few well-known and scientifically proven herbs that soothe and calm the body and mind in consumable amounts.

Chamomile is a safe and effective choice to use due to the abundant presence of the compound, apigenin. Apigenin is a muscle relaxant and can reduce anxiety in low doses, whilst promoting mild sedation in higher doses.

Other effective herbs include passionflower, lemon balm and valerian. They are safe to combine when mixed by a professional and can have an immense effect on the body in a natural and safe way.

Relaxing before bed

An everyday solution

By drinking scientifically tested and effective herbal teas infused with the qualities of nutrients that our bodies demand during certain times of the day and not others, we can most definitely improve our everyday wellness by nurturing ourselves in the right way at the right time.

The Health Tea Box wellness programcan certainly help you stay healthy and improve your wellness. With over 30 scientifically tested and proven medicinal herbs, delicious tea leaves and an array fruits and spices, each combination has been artfully designed to satisfy both taste and the necessary requirements for different stages of the day.

There are a choice of 5 teas in total, including an all day blend with immunity boosting licorice, pomegranate and orange zest for those days you’re feeling a little low.

By offering their customers a cost-effective and uniquely presentable way to easily take action and improve their wellbeing, the team at Health Tea Box are dedicated to using holistic nutrition as a means of providing inspiration to leading happier and healthier lives.

Love yourself and enjoy your life by fusing professional health care with the enjoyment and great taste of a simple cup of tea. A few cups a day could even keep the doctor away!

Wondering why your employees are present, but lack presenteeism? Feeling like you are constantly finding covers for sick employees? Thinking about adopting a workplace wellness program, but not sure what to do? Here’s what you need to know about programs that work . . . and those that probably won’t!

Workplace wellness is a multi-million-dollar industry. When done right, those millions of dollars spent earn far more than that in return. When done wrong however, workplace wellness focuses around a reactive instead of proactive approach and leads to millions of dollars in workplace productivity loss, employee absenteeism and loss of company ROI.

If you want to find yourself in the latter category it’s time to stand up and get real about what your employees need and how you can get there.

What’s Wrong With my Workplace Wellness Program?
Here’s the thing: it might not be that there is anything outlandishly wrong about your program, as much as it is outdated. Heck, even something you started last year could be outdated by now with the rate of advancement of technology and wellness trends. And while some of it is indeed trends that will always be on again, off again, a lot of it is backed by science and research. And when it comes to that, there are a few areas of your program that researchers know are no longer best serving your employees:

  1. Symptoms over Cause
Employees show up to work (or are absent from work) with symptoms of compromised wellness: fatigue, gut distress, poor concentration, no energy, lack of focus. But wellness programs that only address these symptoms instead of helping employees get to the cause of them will only go in a vicious circle of getting rid of symptoms temporarily, and then seeing them return.
  2. Trends over Sustainability
Similar to addressing a symptom instead of a cause, programs that just jump on trends an don’t offer their employees the resources and education to make sustainable changes will never see long term progress. For example, encouraging employees to do a challenge of 3 weeks meat free is not as effective at promoting enhanced long term heart health and diabetes reduction as if employees are educated on what it looks like to adopt a plant based diet.
  3. Short-Term Over Long-Term
Quick fixes and plans with a short turnaround are less effective than setting down a foundation that will allow your employees to adopt habits that they can maintain over the long-term.

Delmont Kimberlee Presents

How can I fix it?

Let’s start with the hard part: you have to make a change. Change is indeed hard – logistically, financially, physically, and emotionally – and as a result is often avoided. In fact, the reality that things have to change is often the primary hurdle in the way, and why workplace wellness programs remain the same for so long. But now that you know you are going to have to make a change, let’s jump in and figure out what you need to change.

  1. Answer the Why
One of the biggest issues surrounding wellness programs is adherence and consistency: employees start a program, but fail to see it through or fail to engage in it consistently. You can help address this issue by relating the program to their real life: why what they are doing is important for their everyday functioning. For example, how drinking the energy tealets them be more productive at work, but also have more energy for their kids. How the night-time tea, which improves sleep, will allow them to more easily get up and exercise before work and help them have more patience for their family.
  2. Break Down Barriers
In addition to answering the why, find out the why not. What are the hurdles in the way of your employees’ adherence or starting the program? What is holding them back from committing? Things such as lack of knowledge, feeling unsupported or uncomfortable, or not able to connect with other employees to form a network and feel part of a team can all be contributing factors.
  3. Cultivate a Community
Addressing the issues surrounding making employees feel comfortable, supported and part of a team can largely be addressed by working to create a community. Make workplace wellbeing an integral part of weekly happenings at the office and something that everybody participates in. Cultivate a culture of positivity and encouragement and encourage employees to reach out to each other to aid in maintaining accountability and adherence.

If you’re ready to make a change and create a wellness program that works, we have just what you need to get started: a Health Tea Box! Complete with energy boosting teas made with science backed ingredients, it might be just the answer you are looking for!

I’m absolutely obsessed with tea, and here are 5 teas that I’ve been having lately as part of my daily wellness routine!

Morning Tea – Herbal Tea Blend

This is the perfect tea to start your day with!  I love that this tea can offer an energy boost thanks to the unique combination of the matcha, green tea and white tea. Unlike coffee however, since these teas release their caffeine differently, I don’t feel jittery or have that dreaded mid-morning energy crash. Plus, I like that I get the added health benefits of matcha at the same time as being gently woken up!

Herbal Power

  • Matcha – Ground green tea leaves, offering a high level of antioxidants, disease-fighting catechins and natural relaxant L-theanine.
  • Hibiscus – Antioxidant and helps reduce high blood pressure
  • Rose Petals – Anti-inflammatory and helps improve digestion and blood health

Tasting Notes – The apple and berries balance out the sometimes-potent flavour of matcha and green tea and the slight fragrant taste of rose and hibiscus gives the tea a nice finish.

Day Blend – Cognitive Memory Assist

Sometimes I feel like my brain is overloaded, and I just can’t think straight. Whether it is a busy day with lots of demands, or I have a large project on the go, having a tea to bring clarity and help with the brain fog is essential. I consume this tea daily for the added long-term benefits of reducing Alzheimer’s risk, but I find it particularly beneficial when I’m in the throes of overwhelm and a to-do list that seems never-ending!

Herbal Power

  • Gingko Biloba – Improves blood flow, helping enhance blood circulation in the brain and augment memory
  • Ginseng Panax – Reduces amyloid, disease-causing, plaque build-up and helps lower blood pressure; offers anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits
  • Rhodiola – An adaptogen that helps the body adapt to stress; offers learning and memory protection and enhancement
  • Dong Quai – Improves immune system function and helps protect the cardiovascular system

Tasting Notes – Natural sweetness thanks to the mango, balanced out by the tartness of kiwi and apple; slight, but pleasant medicinal undertone from the memory enhancing ingredients.

All Day Blend – Immunity

Anybody else feeling the effects of the incoming cold weather? A little sniffle here, or waking up with a bit of a sore throat are my typical early symptoms to let me know a cold is on the way! Now though, I sip immunity tea off and on all day and within a few days, all my symptoms have gone! It’s easy to do when it tastes so delicious (thanks orange and pomegranate!), and I know I am getting a major Vitamin C boost at the same time. Win win!

Herbal Power

  • Liquorice – Beneficial for improving digestion, and nourishing the mucosal lining of the intestines; anti-inflammatory, immune enhancing and adoptogenic
  • Fennel – Containing anti-inflammatory properties, this seed also helps ease digestion discomfort and nausea
  • Peppermint – A multi-use natural herb, this plant is anti-spasmodic, helps ease digestion and enhances cognitive function

Tasting Notes – Naturally sweet thanks to the liquorice and fennel this tea has a hint of peppermint from the fresh peppermint leaf that is included in the blend. The orange and pomegranate give fruity finishing notes.

Afternoon Blend – Gut Health

I would drink this tea every day, thanks to the delicious flavour, but the fact that I get a gut boost at the same time is amazing! I tend to go for this tea 30-60 minutes after I have had lunch, as I find it helps me feel satisfied and lets me focus more on the afternoon tasks. Because the gut biome plays such a critical role in concentration, mood and brain function, I always make sure this tea is close by if I feel any early signs of gut distress, like nausea or bloating.

Herbal Power

  • Turmeric – A potent anti-inflammatory due to its high levels of curcumin, and rich in antioxidants; helps in supporting inflammatory processes in the digestive tract
  • Ginger – A natural anti-nausea, ginger’s fiery flavour helps it act as a natural circulatory stimulant, while simultaneously easing digestion.
  • Coconut – A source of healthy fats to enhance digestion and immunity, while also optimising brain function
  • Cinnamon – A natural way to help balance blood sugar, while offering circulatory benefits and helping maintain blood pressure

Tasting Notes – With the combination of ginger, coconut and lime, this tea tastes like a tropical paradise! It is pleasantly sweet, with a fiery, but balanced, ginger kick, and

Evening Blend – Relax and De-Stress

When the evening hits, and I am ready to unwind, I always crave a comforting cup of tea that I can wrap my hands around and curl up with on the couch. The truth is though, I am not always good at shutting my mind off and relaxing so I can sleep, and having a tea that is part of my routine to initiate that makes a huge difference. I love how this tea helps me instantly feel less stressed and calmer, and I always feel like my thoughts can finally slow down and I can get ready for bed.

Herbal Power

  • Valerian – Offering sedative and calming effects, this decreases nervous tension and encourages parasympathetic activation
  • Chamomile – Anti-inflammatory and immune boosting, offering antioxidant properties and aiding in relaxation
  • Lemon Balm – An antioxidant that enhances cognitive function and has calming properties
  • Passionfruit – A natural sedative, that encourages relaxation

Tasting Notes – Hints of cinnamon and vanilla, as well as a slight hit of lemon thanks to the Lemon Balm. The blend of ingredients allow this tea to be simultaneously soothing and satisfying.
